Eastern Africa
Eastern Africa travel destinations are comprised of the countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. Lush and varied landscapes abound in this unique area of the continent. A notable and impressive highlight of Eastern Africa is that it is home to Mt Kilimanjaro – which is Africa’s highest peak and the world’s highest free-standing volcano.
Kenya
Located in the Great Rift Valley with the regal Mount Kilimanjaro in the backdrop, Kenya is comprised of beautiful and varied natural landscapes including wooded hills, savannas, forests, and an abundance of wildlife. The nation of Kenya has a deep and diverse range of traditional African cultural practices and influences.
Uganda
Uganda is a country located in Eastern Africa and is bordered by Kenya, Sudan, Congo, Rwanda, and Tanzania. Uganda is an extremely green and lush area. There are beautiful lakes and rivers throughout Uganda, most notably, the Nile River.
Tanzania
Tanzania has an enchanting coastline alongside the Indian Ocean. There are small islands peppered through the waters, just off the coast. A charming feature of Tanzania are quaint villages that are heavily influenced by Swahili culture and traditions.
Rwanda
Known as Le Pays des Mille Collines (Land of a Thousand Hills), Rwanda is a mountainous country that is home to the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas. Rwanda also has some of the best inland beaches that Africa has to offer along the shores of Lake Kivu.
